ADHD_Icons-05.png

When parents shift their mindset to see ADHD behaviors as part of aneurodevelopmental condition rather than as bad behavior, they foster amore supportive and understanding environment. Acceptance, compassion, and forgiveness not only strengthen your relationship withyour child but also help them develop self-esteem, resilience, and the skillsto thrive.

1. Pause and Reflect

• When frustrated, take a moment to consider the behavior through the ADHD lens.

• Example: “Is this behavior a symptom of ADHD, and how can I
support them right now?”

2. Use Visual Reminders

• Place affirmations or reminders in your home to stay focused on compassion.

• Example: A sign saying, “Lead with love, not frustration.”

3. Celebrate Effort, Not Just Outcomes

• Build your child’s confidence by recognizing hard work, even if the result isn’t perfect.
